The City of Hialeah is flying the flags of Nicaragua, Colombia and the Dominican Republic as part of Florida Cities’ International Flag Day July 18, 2007. Florida Cities’ International Flag Day was created to encourage cities to fly the flags of countries that contribute to the international influences and flavors in their city. Every city in Florida has international influences: historic, business and cultural.
This event is intended to broaden the spotlight on how diverse our citizenry is, how different cultures add to our quality of life, and how our local economies thrive as a result of international interests and businesses. Florida Cities’ International Flag Day honors our international history, geography and economy.
